I am embarrassed to admit that the machine I used was really tricky to manage a usb connection to, would only even open the disk tray on its own whims, and, um.
Well.
Let's be honest, here.
I forgot to email myself all the Notepad and Wordpad docs of writing I had accrued over the years on top of putting off transferring files. I had SOME txt ones on my multimedia MP3 player, but that died FIRST.
Sorry to hear your machine died!
I allow that SOME of my writing is preserved here, now? But the false starts that still provided background info for standing settings and plotlines I have been hammering out for years, well. May I be blessed with recoverable files. *chuckle* Sadly, this is the second time this has happened. My information from my first computer was transferred onto the 'new' machine, but, as Windows ME files suddenly on an XP system, four years of school projects, stories, poetry, fantasy language, cultural notes, etc were all rendered unreadable.
I suppose nothing of value to anyone but me was lost, on the bright side.
